The 5G Challenge – Next Level Time Series Technology.

Agriculture 4.0, industry 4.0 and logistics 4.0 - a new world of data is emerging. A challenge for all those who work with time series. With FeasyUse® HAKOM has made its time series technology fit for the future.

Die 5G Challenge – Next Level Time Series Technology.

From diamonds to brilliants - making data valuable.

The future began yesterday. A new reality is emerging that connects people, machines and systems in a futuristic way. Not a vision, but in the form of networked households (Google Home, Philips Hue, Apple HomeKit, meteo weather stations etc.) in the private sector already everyday life.

Agriculture 4.0 - in the Spanish province of Almería no longer a utopia, but daily business. Systematic droplets irrigation minimizes water consumption based on current and forecast data. Sensors in greenhouses, in seawater osmosis plants and many weather stations provide data to optimize a complex system.

Even more visible is the networking in industry 4.0: measurement data is collected, which monitors and optimizes the machine park, announces the need for action in the service area, optimizes the utilization of the machine park, etc.

The examples could be continued seamlessly from Logistics 4.0 to the military sector.

The basis of all 4.0 applications are sensors that permanently measure data with a time stamp and offer it to the network for use. The time series data are waiting to be retrieved and processed by applications. Since not all sensors measure with the same time grid , they must be harmonized in this respect, for example. Moreover, a large part of the 4.0 applications works with real time data. Applications in the 5G network are particularly demanding in terms of performance in order to be able to operate the extremely low latencies.

These few points alone make it clear that the 5G network is a special challenge for Time Series Technology applications. Applications that process a valuable raw material from mountains of data, create a value that is the basis of all 4.0 applications.

5G, the Dynamic Network – a Claim for Scalability.

In contrast to 4G technology, 5G is a dynamic network. Each user can be assigned his own logical network by network slicing: Large or small bandwidth, low or high latency. Depending on the requirements or even on the performance of the 5G application that causes the data traffic. If this is slow, the network is slowed down for them, the capacity goes to other applications that are faster. This means that rigid applications are unsuitable for a dynamic network such as 5G. They need to be flexible, scalable to adapt to demand.

The FeasyUse® HAKOM Time Series technology can do just that. Due to its platform independent container technology, it is scalable to an unlimited extent and this to the full extent on the application as well as on the persistence level. HAKOM TSM grows dynamically with the 5G network and the application requirements. This is unique.

5G, the Distributed Network – a Claim for Availabilty.

The key issues for 5G to be able to deliver in the future that it was designed for are making data available and validating data. Billions of sensors around the globe will constantly produce time series data. The challenge will be to make these data available, to bring them together, to validate them and to make them available in a certain standard.

Making the data available and validating it at an unbeatable speed to meet the latencies of the 5G network are the strengths of HAKOM TSM technology. By means of FeasyUse® it delivers useful results under all circumstances.

5G, the Shared Network – a Claim for Shareability.

Share, you know that from the Share Economy. A hip lifestyle, no longer owning but using is the approach: cars, music, etc.. Property is receding into the background. Collaborations, they're on. So YouTuber push each other without food envy, because the ancient Greeks already knew: The whole is more than the sum of its parts.

Same is true for data in the 5G network. If everyone is jealous of their data and doesn't share it, it thwarts the purpose of the 5G network. The 5G network will become a network of cooperation and sharing. That sounds crazy and unthinkable. That's what the IT giants thought when the Open Source idea was born and were taught better. In the modern Internet world Open Source dominates.

Proprietary applications are under species protection, are artificially kept alive and must at least partially open up.

In addition to availability and scalability, shareability will become the topic in the 5G network. Sharing a car is still quite easy, time series data no longer. Different data clouds, database technologies, scaling, and more, become an extreme challenge to add value by sharing data. And completely apart from the technical, there is also the legal framework, the reliable anonymization of data for example. A big topic in the area of Apple Watch, which shares highly personal health data. Patterns as early indicators of an impending heart attack appear to be deducible from this. Added value that could only come from sharing data.

Shareability, a central point in the tension triangle of time series technology in the 5G network. FeasyUse® masters them very well: data can be shared without limits.

FeasyUse® - the solution principle for time series data in the 5G network.

FeasyUse® is the basic principle of the HAKOM TSM technology, which was strategically developed as a response to the challenges of time series management of the future. It masters the tension triangle of scalability, availability and shareability in a slim, elegant and high-performance way like no other time series technology. How, this is demonstrated by our Success Stories in a practical and impressive way.
